DAKO – a Polish manufacturer of window and door joinery – consistently invests in the automation of its production processes. This year, the company has implemented another state-of-the-art technological solution that will streamline the plant’s operations and speed up order completion. As part of our partnership with URBAN POLSKA, we bought a modern automatic steel cutting machine – Schirmer type SZA 450.
How does the new cutting centre work?
The machine’s efficiency is a huge advantage — during a single 8-hour shift, it can produce up to 2,500 steel components. The unit is equipped with a PC Display panel, which provides the operator with access to all relevant information, such as the number and type of steel being cut, the length of the cut, the carriage number and the storage chamber.
As standard, the machine offers a cutting disc set at 45° and 90°. The system is complete with two linear modules with grapples for transporting and picking up the tooling, powered by highly dynamic three-phase servo motors. The DAKO machine has a modular design and features additional functions for machining door openings in steel profiles.

Purpose and significance of the implementation
“This is an important implementation for us, which will significantly increase the efficiency and output of our PVC window production, as well as improving the comfort of our operators,” stresses Michał Kantor, PVC Production Line Manager at DAKO.
The machine has been additionally fitted with an oil mist cleaning system, which not only contributes to environmental protection but also increases employee safety.
Automation as standard
Automation is now essential in every modern manufacturing company. The implementation of the Schirmer SZA 450 system allows for faster order processing, improved product quality thanks to repeatable operation parameters, and creates an integrated, automated production line with a machining centre. This, in turn, lowers the risk of downtime and claims, as well as service and production costs – all while being fully integrated with other systems in the plant.
